Sue Ward
Psychotherapist | Trauma Counsellor | Educator
With over 17 years of experience in the mental health field, Sue is a dedicated
psychotherapist in private practice. Since 2007, Sue has worked with individuals navigating
life crises, offering compassionate and effective support to help them achieve lasting
personal growth and meaningful change.
Applying a collaborative, non-judgmental approach, Sue creates a safe and supportive
environment where clients can explore their challenges, develop healthier coping strategies
and improve both their personal and professional relationships. Through a combination of
individual therapy and psycho-educational group work, Sue has helped clients address the
complexities and stressors that often feel overwhelming in isolation, fostering resilience and
emotional well-being through dialogue and supportive exploration of presenting issues.
A particular area of interest is working with individuals impacted by complex trauma,
including those with a history of childhood abuse and neglect. Sue has facilitated workshops
on vicarious trauma and trauma-informed care for various government organisations and
private companies, and has led The Blue Knot Foundation’s two-day program designed to
equip mental health clinicians with the tools to work effectively with complex trauma
survivors.
In addition, Sue also has a strong background in trauma education, having served as an
educator and program facilitator with St John Ambulance WA. Sue led in-house training
programs for paramedics, ambulance officers, communication officers, and volunteers,
focusing on trauma-informed care and effective communication in high-stress
environments. Additionally, Sue has worked with the veteran community, supporting
individuals with complex PTSD related to military service.
With a passion for empowering others and a deep understanding of the potentially pervasive
nature of trauma, Sue remains committed to helping clients achieve both immediate relief
and long-term growth.
